Safont Parking in Toledo: Location, Rates, and How to Get There
When a guest arrives by car in Toledo and asks us where to park, in 90% of cases the answer is: Safont parking. It is located at the foot of the historic center, connects to the city center via escalators, and has more spaces than any other option within the city. On this page, we provide directions on how to get there, updated rates for 2026, and practical details worth knowing beforehand.
Where is the Safont parking lot in Toledo?
The Safont parking lot is located next to the Toledo bus station, in the area known as Safont, north of the historic center and on the banks of the Tagus River. The address we provide to guests for their GPS is “Estación de Autobuses de Toledo”; you will arrive directly. What is truly important about Safont is not just its capacity (it is one of the largest in Toledo), but its escalator connection to the historic center: the Miradero escalators ascend in less than 10 minutes to Plaza del Miradero, already inside the old town and a three-minute walk from Zocodover.Car access is signposted from the A-42 (Madrid-Toledo highway), exit 67, following signs for “Estación de Autobuses” or “Safont.”
Safont Parking Rates in 2026
As of February 17, 2025, the Safont parking lot is no longer free and has become a magenta ORA zone. The updated rates are:
- €0.40/hour for vehicles not registered in Toledo.
- Free for residents registered in Toledo city.
- Continuous 24-hour charging in July and August; the rest of the year, standard ORA hours apply (M-F 10:00 AM–2:00 PM and 5:00 PM–8:00 PM, Saturdays 10:00 AM–2:00 PM, Sundays and holidays free).
How to get to the historic center from Safont
The Miradero escalators start 200 meters from the Safont parking lot (a five-minute walk). They ascend in six sections to Plaza del Miradero, already within the historic center. They operate daily with extensive hours, are free of charge, and are covered, so they are useful both during the heat of August and when it rains in winter. From Plaza del Miradero to Zocodover, the heart of Toledo, it is a three-minute walk on level ground. From Zocodover, you can reach the Cathedral in another five minutes, and the apartment you have booked with Toledo AP usually in less than ten. Alternative without escalators: 50 meters from the parking lot begins the Paseo del Tránsito, an uphill climb that leads in 15 minutes to the San Juan de los Reyes area and the Tránsito Synagogue. This is useful if you arrive with a bicycle or if you prefer to enter through the Jewish quarter instead of Zocodover.
Alternatives to Safont parking if it is full or if you are looking for free options
On high-season weekends and long weekends, Safont fills up. These are the alternatives we recommend to guests, ordered by proximity to the historic center:
- Azarquiel: free parking next to the bridge of the same name, a 10-minute walk from Zocodover. If Safont is full, this is the first option.
- Circo Romano – Venta de Aires: free, spacious, next to Paseo de Recaredo. From there, a second set of escalators goes directly up to the Diputación. This is usually the favorite option for Toledo locals.
- Santo Tomé Garage (indoor, inside the historic center, Calle Santa Úrsula 8): paid, €18/day. The only option if you arrive after midnight or leave before dawn.
- Toletum: free, in the industrial park upon entering Toledo. A 15–20 minute walk to the historic center. A good option if you are staying for several days and are not in a hurry.
